About

Roberta Fidora is a genre-bender from the Isle of Wight, UK, hopping between field recordings in space, industrial-tinged electroclash, guerrilla puppeteering and wildly maximalist, mildly-anarchic pop music.

Falling somewhere between Bet Lynch, David Lynch, Laurie Anderson and Gerry Anderson, with polite nods to Toyah, Amanda Lear, Siouxsie, Alison Moyet and Sparks, Roberta Fidora is a musician, amateur biography writer and person of disinterest based at the bottom of the UK (previously releasing music under the moniker CURXES) whose output has incorporated everything from broadcasts in dark forests, giant dancing bear puppets and making fun of the click-baiting, advert-drowned internet to depressed budgerigars, abandoned rocket testing sites, human taxidermy displays and hidden tracks in simulation games, getting shout-outs from the likes of MOJO magazine, The Independent, The Guardian, BBC6Music and KEXP along the way.

She is proud to be unflinchingly independent, residing online on federated social media and releasing “foreground music” through the collaborative imprint Ursinewave (run with fellow electronic oddtronic musician dee eye why) whilst supported by a semi-secret society known as the Neighbourhood.

In addition to this, she curates an animation show for The Indie Beat Television called Animation Array and she is an artist steward and contributor to the music site Mirlo, an open source co-op for musicians to sell their music on their own terms.
